After breaking all records in the last Olympic Games celebrated in China, swimming champion Michael Phelps is willing to join a Poker team and maybe prove that he can be a cards champion too. Phelps made it clear that poker is one of his favorite hobbies and that he would like to dominate the game.

During the last Olympics, rumors started circulating that Phelps was playing and learning Poker in his free time, when he was not practicing for the competitions; now he seems to be taking it more seriously and has started classes with poker legend Doyle Brunson.

Art Deco Bingo Hall dilemma

Over 300 letters were sent by neighbours of the Art Deco Bingo Hall in Hove, over to the builders of the Downland Housing Assosiation. The letters objected the conversion of the Gala Bingo hall (which has been closed for three years) into 38 apartments and a surgical intervention establishment.

The chairman for the area’s association said that: “I’m disappointed the developers would not consult with neighbours before a new application is submitted. Local democracy has just disappeared – I am talking to residents who didn’t even know this was being planned.

Manchester United celebrates at casino

After winning the Premier League last weekend, the members of the Manchester United decided to celebrate their victory at the Manchester235 Casino. All the players, including Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand, danced and sang in the VIP room while drinking champagne.

The wives and girlfriends of the players were at the casino too and many of them wore the champions’ medals around their necks. However, neither they nor their victorious companions answered any of the questions of the press before getting inside the luxurious venue.

MILAN, Italy (Reuters) -- Serie A champions Juventus have agreed to buy Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira for 20 million euros ($24.38 million), the Italian club announced on Thursday.

Juventus said the French international midfielder will sign a five-year deal with the Turin club.

German Federation Bans Referee for Life

The referee who triggered Germany's biggest game-fixing scandal in more than 30 years was banned for life by the German soccer federation Friday.

Robert Hoyzer admitted in January that he received $87,000 from Croatian gamblers to fix games. He has confessed to manipulating four games and trying to rig three others.

"Mr. Hoyzer caused immeasurable damage to German soccer and its referee system," said Rainer Koch, head of the federation's sports court.
